What's Happening Now
The Land Use Plan Update Committee held its final meeting Tuesday, 4/11/2022. A detailed summary of public comments and staff/public recommendations were provided to the committee for consideration. The next step will be for consultant Jay Stewart to incorporate the Committee recommendations into a draft land use plan document. This will then be submitted to the Zoning Commission for review and recommendation, and then to the Board of Trustees for review and action. Additional public comment will be accepted at the Zoning Commission and Trustee hearings. The Committee did a very good job of breaking down the large and diverse land uses of the Township into identifiable focus areas for recommendations.
Next up in the Land Use Plan update process – the Land Use Plan Update Steering Committee has scheduled its final meeting to be held on Tuesday April 12, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
at the Miami Township Civic Center. The Committee will review public comment received from the open house and consider any additional recommendations.
On January 24, 2022, Miami Township held an open house to accept public comments for the Land Use Plan update process ongoing. After opening remarks from planning consultant Jay Stewart, interested community members were able to view presentation boards and give comments and ideas. Six presentation boards provided information on 10 different focus areas, as well as information on a variety of potential residential housing types and future pedestrian connectivity.

The Land Use Plan Update Steering Committee completed a great session on Wednesday November 10, 2021. The Committee reviewed and commented on seven unique focus areas within Miami Township, as well as considered points of pedestrian connectivity throughout the community. Next up is a public forum to be scheduled in January 2022. Stay tuned for the specific time and location to be determined. We hope you can attend to provide input on progress so far!
After a 20 month hiatus, the Land Use Plan Update Committee reconvened and got right back to work. Topic areas discussed at the 9.30.2021 meeting included multi-family residential, Business and State Route 28 special planning areas, and the Little Miami Scenic Trail special planning area including the Miamiville and Branch Hill communities. The Committee is planning to meet again in November.
The Land Use Plan Update Steering Committee has scheduled its second meeting for Thursday September 30, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Areas of discussion will include Branch Hill, Miamiville, the Little Miami Scenic Trail, and the State Route/Business 28 corridor.

It’s helpful to have a snapshot of existing land use conditions as a baseline as Miami Township proceeds with updating the land use plan. As part of the revision process, we just completed a brand new and updated current conditions plan. Check it out here
The first meeting of the Land Use Plan Update Steering Committee was held at the Miami Township Civic Center. The Steering Committee held a break-out group brainstorming session to identify the three greatest challenges and the three greatest opportunities relative to growth and land use in Miami Township over the next 10 years. Identified key opportunities included among others leveraging the Little Miami Scenic Trail, while key challenges discussed included rejuvenating commercial corridors and understanding future housing demand.
The next meeting of the Land Use Plan Update Steering Committee is scheduled for 3/31/2020.
