CHIEF MIKE MILLS

Mike Mills began his career with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer in 1993 and then a Deputy Sheriff in 1997. Later In 1997 he was hired by the Union Township Police Department as a road patrol officer where he spent the next 17 years. Throughout his career at Union Township he also served as a Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Staff Services Sergeant and Administrative Sergeant. He worked as an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati 2005-2014.

During his time in Investigations in 2004, he along with a fellow detective developed an internet based Greater Cincinnati Intelligence group. The group, swopintel.org, started with 28 detectives and is still utilized today by over 700 detectives, ATF, Secret Service and the FBI. He was awarded Clermont County Police Officer of the Year in 2005 and the Greater Cincinnati Police Officer of the Year in 2006 by Crime Stoppers. He was hired at the Miami Township Police Department as the Assistant Chief of Police in March 2014 where he has served until his appointment to Chief of Police on February1, 2019.

His educational background consists of an Associate’s Degree from Cincinnati State and a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and Human Services from the University of Cincinnati. He attended the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute Staff & Command where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA. He is also a 2018 graduate the Ohio Certified Law Enforcement Executive Course (CLEE).
