From The Director

Being a resident of Miami Township and having lived through many winter months I know firsthand how we tend to hibernate and go into low gear as we adjust to the frigid temperatures and slushy sidewalks.   From a Recreation programming standpoint we are excited to have a captive audience to try to entice and enroll in one of our many great programs.

Over the last 6 months we have introduced some new wellness and fitness programs that have really taken off. The beauty of what we offer is that you can try it for 6 weeks and see if you like the class and then continue with us or try it on your own at home. Currently we are offering classes in Water Aerobics (at Milford High School), Mat Pilates, Zumba Gold and Line Dancing (which is a great work out). On the relaxation side there's Yoga, Tai Chi, and Meditation. Brought back by popular request is our Women's Self Defense class which is facilitated by our Miami Twp. Police Dept.

Our special events in the first quarter of the year are the Daddy-Daughter Valentine Dance which will be held for only one night on Feb. 5. Our second annual Art Show on March 13 will highlight some talented local artists. Our culminating event on March 27 is the annual Easter Extravaganza which is a great free family event.

I encourage you to try something new this winter season and take advantage of all the opportunities that await you in your own back yard.
