The Board of Miami Township Trustees in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 505.10 has determined that it has equipment that is not needed for public use, is obsolete, or is unfit for the use for which it was acquired; specifically firearms in the form of handguns, rifles and shotguns, that have been awarded to the Miami Township Police Department for its use or disposal by the Common Pleas Court of Clermont County.
Residents and local businesses donated more thasn $13,000 to the annual Miami Township Police Department's “Cops n Kids” event for more than 80 disadvantaged children in the community on Thursday, Dec. 12 Meijer on State Route 28.

Avoid the Grandpa Scam: In recent weeks a number of police agencies in Ohio have received complaint calls from different people about a scam targeting grandparents. Elderly victims have been contacted by telephone and told their grandsons or granddaughters have been injured in a car accident while visiting another state or a foreign country.
Chief R. Steven Bailey has been Chief of the Miami Township Police Department since May 1995. Chief Bailey graduated from the 203d Session of the FBI National Academy in December 2000. He is a graduate of Class 119 of the Northwestern University Traffic Institute School of Police Staff and Command. He is also a graduate of Session 16 of the Ohio Police Executive Leadership College (P.E.L.C.).
